What is a Girls Empowerment Forum?
A Girls Empowerment forum is an interactive exercise geared toward girls ages 13 and up
who are entering into critical decision making and coming of age phases of development.
The forum focuses on the tenents set forth in Danine Manette’s book Messages for Joey: A
Few Things I Need You to Know, while facilitating group discussion between
mothers/aunts/grandmothers/etc and the young ladies they are positioned to empower.A
Girls Empowerment Forum offers the perfect opportunity to share experiences, pass on
words of wisdom and open lines of communication with girls who are in the process of
navigating through life’s challenges. There will be plenty of heads nodding, laughing out
loud, and “ouch” moments as women share obstacles faced, challenges overcome and
insight acquired while we focus on empowering the youngest among us. It will be an
experience not soon forgotten by all who attend.
